This 1592 engraving portrays Erato, muse of love and lyric poetry. The verse translated from Latin reads:
"Named for love, the devotee of the Permessus stream,
She with steady beam casts light across the world.
Joyful Erato, soothing Phocis with sweet song,
And touching the realms of Eurus, Zephyrus, Boreas, and Notus."
